Bixlabs
2 projects in PhonegapIn 2013 we were contacted by Gearstream to continue an application for Agile coaches and teams that was in development, using mainly Backbone, Handlebars, Cordova and SASS, among other techn (more)ologies. We started by working on their iPad app (using Cordova) and worked some months to release a version for beta testing. After that, client decided to focus on a redesign and a web version, in which we are working till today. (less)
Great development partner, excellent communication, and great product quality! Bixlabs is always very receptive and reactive to our requests and very proactive in asking for feedback on how they're doing. It's great working with them because you work with the people at their company and not with heavy contracts. We're in collaboration with their team members sometimes on a daily basis, but we meet on the phone with them weekly, and you get to talk to somebody and work through what you're trying to deliver, what they're trying to deliver, answer, and ask questions. It's a very personal relationship with their staff.
They could always improve their output. We always joke about that. They are always focused on quality but quality is something that you never reach a destination on. It's always something that's a journey.
Bixlabs picked up a lot of the Agile software development practices and ran with it themselves. That has helped increase their output. It allowed us to work much better together. We provide them the features and the stories that we're looking for and they work on the stories in iterations and deliver them once a week. We assess the work and continue going.
I'm an Agile coach for a consulting firm. We help large enterprise corporations' IT [information technology] and business partners to develop and build software using the Agile methodology. We help Fortune 500 companies deliver software. We approached Bixlabs to develop apps that we use internally. What we call the GPS app is an app that we use to assess teams that we work with and give them a road map of where they are today and how they progress. The app walks them through the journey and gives them an idea on how they're doing against the behaviors and practices that we're working with them to develop. This is an app that we use alongside of our clients to track our progress on their projects.
Client was looking for a mobile expert that could help their company to develop an hybrid app for home inspectors, to keep track of their day to day work and upload information on the go. (more) The challenge included creating a mobile Cordova/Ionic app from scratch able to synchronize with a server, as well as working side by side with their existing team, located in UK. We implemented their design using Cordova and Ionic, applying the latest trends and recommendations for Angular mobile apps. We created a solution for both iOS and Android, targeting mainly iPad mini and latest Samsung Galaxy. (less)
Their technical skills are great. They also focus on providing great communication and adhere to deadlines.
We worked very closely and they are improving continuously.
Every problem was promptly discussed and solved right away.
An hybrid mobile app for home inspectors.
The client had a system for use as an internal tool for their company in US, which had two front-end apps (web and mobile) and a shared PHP back-end. The applications needed some fixes in (more) terms of architecture design and we were asked to maintain and enhance them, adding some features and creating parallel solutions. Some of the things we did were: great refactor of the existing PHP server, integrating MVC pattern, centralize connections to the database and standardize access to data. In addition, we fixed bugs, founded the basis for the creation of a REST API and added tests and test environments for services. (less)
For me, after having an experience with a bad development partner, the most unique thing is that Bixlabs delivers on expectations. From my experience, it started to seem like in the outsourcing development industry, getting what you want is actually difficult. What makes Bixlabs special is that they actually listen to the client's needs and work to provide that. They'll take a lot of time to listen, to try to understand. There's a lot of communication back and forth before anything really gets built, so I like that. That's what makes them special
Scheduling
They're not perfect but, overall, I'm really pleased with their work, and there's always an explanation and communication about delays.
We manufacture a spray-on waterproofing system that's used on bridges and tunnels. We work primarily in North America – the United States and Canada. The biggest challenge that we had before Bixlabs was just an overall bad development team. It was a very bad experience with our previous developer. We didn't get what we wanted, and it cost way too much. We brought Bixlabs in to fix what our previous developers left us with and they really helped us out. Bixlabs provided web development and some iOS development. I knew Bixlabs's current project manager, Elisa Amarelle, from a prior engagement. I really enjoyed working with her so when it was time to find a new development team, I started with finding her.
The client had a web app for athletes and individuals in UK to keep track of their training, as well as for coaches to track their progress, and he needed to improve and extend the front-end (more). We were challenged to integrate with an existent team of excellent and distributed developers and a large set of code already in place to be understand and improved. We did a great refactor of the code to achieve more development in the “Angular way” while we implemented new features. We implemented some of the major features such as graphics for visually tracking your training, forms, wizards and widgets. (less)
The client was creating an application from scratch for its network of real estate offices to let them organize work and keep track of the activity of each branch and agent, create reports, (more)among others. They came to us looking to complete certain sections of the application both in terms of design and implementation, to better manage the different properties and other related functionalities. We provided a graphic design that matched their needs, looking for better ways to display information and graphics. We developed the front-end for those sections using JavaScript, HTML and CSS. Tools used were Photoshop, Bitbucket and Heroku. (less)
They did an excellent job when it comes to design, offered polite assistance and the willingness to understand the requirement and the needs was great.

Very good communication and quality of final product
A web application for administrate real estate offices.
We are developing a responsive web application for tracking and consulting the different household charges of your house or office and providing ways to analyze the data and optimize the con (more)sumption of these items. (less)
Great to work with. Really recommended, very happy with the work.
Had them on an hourly contract then changed it to a weekly wage as the work was so good.
They are always trying to improve and communicate daily to make sure any issue is solved as quickly as possible.
A responsive web application for my company.
Chrysallis is a Population Engagement platform that puts hospitals into direct, lifelong relationship with the residents of their region through a full-spectrum health and wellness applicati (more)on delivered at ultra low cost and available to everyone, anywhere, anytime. We are in charge of the end to end development, from Node back-end to iPhone app, including a web admin site built in Angular. (less)
My organization was absolutely elated to have found Bix. Working closely on a daily basis, we formed one cohesive team. They were outstanding communicators (we used several online collaboration tools including Jira, Slack, Flowdock, dropbox and more. The ability to reach them at nearly any hour of the day was an immense benefit. The best service providers are the ones that can listen well and then bring a high degree of attention to the relationship. Bixlabs has done a great job with that. Every culture is different. Bixlabs has done a nice job of listening, putting a lot of energy into it, and they also take real pride in their work.
The risk for them is as development shops grow and get attention they tend not to do as well with client service. They don't do as well with the things that got them the success to begin with. I think that is not just confined to BIX Labs, but every service provider that's overseas. They start servicing the U.S., and they double in size, but then the quality drops off or the attention drops off. They'll have to confront that as they grow.
From a development perspective, they brought extreme strength to the team. Their angular.js and node experience are second to none. Further, they were able to automate much of our integration and continuous deployment, saving us time and money. This is an outstanding group: the best at any price. Have already hired them for follow-on projects.
We're building an innovative product in a very dynamic space. Having a technology partner that's smart, that listens well and can keep up with the pace in this space is important. Bixlabs is doing a large piece of the development work. We do have a U.S.-based development team as well, but we split the team between in house and Bixlabs. We treat them as our team. It works out real well. Bixlabs is really an integral part of the overall solution.
The client is a US entrepreneur that was in the beginning stages and needed a team that could help him create an app with Angular and Node. The idea was to have an application to connect b (more)usiness centers with local workers to create fast links between jobs and local workers. The concept was evolving fast and we had to adapt quickly to the changing needs. With an efficient and intuitive design, we structured and simplified the communication between companies and local work. We integrated a variety of tools in an application that is easy to use. We worked side by side with the funding team to develop an application that could satisfy everyone’s need: client, users and investors. We were able to leverage latest technologies to provide a platform for workers and businesses to connect faster and more efficiently. We integrated seamlessly to the existent team and became an extension of it. (less)

Communication, development, and team work are what sets TopTier apart. There are a lot of good devs and dev shops out there. But there are not many that we would treat like they were in-house, and TopTier earned that.
As long as you worked an agile communication system with TopTier, their work is as good as anyone's and better than most. Working in an iterative SDLC allows them to adjust their thinking and their development to meet all of the issues that we encountered.
Proactive issue handling is a must, but TopTier is good at working a long plan to solve issues. When there are personnel issues or quality issues, they are dealt with and resolved quickly and to our satisfaction.

TopTier's work involved full stack development on a number of projects, including mobile development, api development, and feature development, as well as debugging and testing. We build products for today’s consumers, because we are today’s consumers. Longstreet Solutions is the creator of customer retention-focused marketing products and services, most notably Intelligent Email. Longstreet Labs was born out of our own need for developers who evaluated products not just by lines of code, but also by marketing strategies, customer personas, and user experiences. We couldn’t find them, so we built a team of them, and now that team brings your projects to life. Whether the website, mobile app, or product you have in mind is your first or your tenth, it’s your baby. You deserve to have a product built with your customers in mind from day one. (read more)

Spencer and Campus Bubble are so adept at listening and responding in a polite, professional manner. They as well as anybody know that the world of web/mobile apps are fraught with people asking for the moon (e.g. "can your app do this?"; "it'd be amazing if it could do that"), but Spencer takes this in stride and can immediately manage expectations in a way I don't usually see -- wish lists are never truly off the table, but he intimately knows the limitations of his team's time and resources, and yet still has been able to deliver functionality that pleases everyone. I know that sounds vague, but I've found it so invaluable when I need to manage OTHERS' expectations in our organization. Spencer also is great at providing timely updates and reaching out to constituents independent of myself. I fully trust him to talk to anybody at Emory Campus Life because I know he'll handle the conversation with care. He does presentations very well, knows when to talk and when to listen during them, and always has a mind for the higher purpose of the project -- that is, he doesn't get bogged down in the day-to-day, and knows how to make decisions from a 10,000 ft level. Finally, Spencer and his team have been very patient. While eager, their energy never comes across as a negative. Despite a launch on our campus that didn't quite take hold as well as we wanted to, the Bubble was more energized than ever to meet REPEATEDLY with students, staff, entire departments...all to better the product. Higher education can be a frustrating place to work in terms of slow-moving projects and limited funds, but Spencer has handled it all with grace and an infectious desire to keep working.
I honestly don't see any glaring areas for improvement -- I'm always a fan of *more* transparency, so I suppose more visuals would be nice in between the 2-week "sprints" that preclude the Bubble team's email updates. That said, the updates are well-written, and I'm sure they'd be happy to share progress further in case anyone followed up with those emails directly. Occasionally I have to manage expectations and that eagerness I mentioned earlier, which I think is a reflection of the Bubble team's overwhelmingly young ages, but it's hard to complain about a provider that is *too* eager to improve the product. Getting buy-in from an admittedly large organization doesn't happen overnight.
With a refreshing dose of humility. They'll be the first to tell you that the Bubble didn't latch on at Emory the first go-around, due mainly to technical capacity limitations. But the process to re-invent the product after that was great -- they directed all aspects, including organizing focus groups, ALWAYS heavily insisting for feedback, and rebranding in a way that never seemed internally demoralizing (to them). If there's ever been a case study for how to handle failure and come back better for it, they would be it. It sounds like hyperbole, but they have really impressed me with the way the product has grown since that failed lunch.
Our project was a full-service communications web/mobile app on a college campus. The university had abandoned its previous all-in-one platform a few years back, and recognized that a distinct hole was left behind -- administrators communicating with students had suddenly become much, much harder. The idea behind Emory Bubble was to recreate that magic in a hub that had "bubbles" for any number of organizations or concepts (e.g. individual courses, student-run organizations, feedback for renovations to a building, etc), and allowed for file-sharing, event postings, conversation, comments, likes, and structure for that organization or group. The amalgamation of all of this discourse is a public feed that is exclusive to the Emory community -- like Facebook, but better suited to our campuses' individual needs.
JPP needed a fresh new look for their logo and a modern, video-centric online portfolio and blog. Nightly Labs provided the logo design, web design, and web development services.
Product/abstract thinking was exemplary. Nightlylabs thought in terms of what the design was going to "say" to users, how it was going to communicate and interact, etc. And Nightlylabs effectively implemented those product ideas: the site is as clean and communicable as it was conceived to be.

Coditation did a great job in Backend, UI and Mobile Development of our complex product. Team Coditation worked very closely with our Product Managers and Domain Experts during the development phase. Their team was very professional, responsive and proactive in communication; and have shown all good qualities of a competent and trustworthy engineering partner.
Overall Coditation has been a great engineering partner. I believe they could potentially improve a bit in managing the change requests, especially the small CRs related to UI.
Coditation has been very prompt and proactive in discussing potential issues/problems. They seem to have an ability to foresee some of the technical issues which really helped us in avoiding major slippages. I have been particularly impressed with the way they handled an outage in our system due to a DOS attack. Their team got the system up in few hours time. They have also been extremely mature in dealing with issues arising out of lack of communication or other such softer issues.
