We build products for today’s consumers, because we are today’s consumers. Longstreet Solutions is the creator of customer retention-focused marketing products and services, most notably Intelligent Email. Longstreet Labs was born out of our own need for developers who evaluated products not just by lines of code, but also by marketing strategies, customer personas, and user experiences. We couldn’t find them, so we built a team of them, and now that team brings your projects to life. Whether the website, mobile app, or product you have in mind is your first or your tenth, it’s your baby. You deserve to have a product built with your customers in mind from day one. (read more)

Spencer and Campus Bubble are so adept at listening and responding in a polite, professional manner. They as well as anybody know that the world of web/mobile apps are fraught with people asking for the moon (e.g. "can your app do this?"; "it'd be amazing if it could do that"), but Spencer takes this in stride and can immediately manage expectations in a way I don't usually see -- wish lists are never truly off the table, but he intimately knows the limitations of his team's time and resources, and yet still has been able to deliver functionality that pleases everyone. I know that sounds vague, but I've found it so invaluable when I need to manage OTHERS' expectations in our organization. Spencer also is great at providing timely updates and reaching out to constituents independent of myself. I fully trust him to talk to anybody at Emory Campus Life because I know he'll handle the conversation with care. He does presentations very well, knows when to talk and when to listen during them, and always has a mind for the higher purpose of the project -- that is, he doesn't get bogged down in the day-to-day, and knows how to make decisions from a 10,000 ft level. Finally, Spencer and his team have been very patient. While eager, their energy never comes across as a negative. Despite a launch on our campus that didn't quite take hold as well as we wanted to, the Bubble was more energized than ever to meet REPEATEDLY with students, staff, entire departments...all to better the product. Higher education can be a frustrating place to work in terms of slow-moving projects and limited funds, but Spencer has handled it all with grace and an infectious desire to keep working.
I honestly don't see any glaring areas for improvement -- I'm always a fan of *more* transparency, so I suppose more visuals would be nice in between the 2-week "sprints" that preclude the Bubble team's email updates. That said, the updates are well-written, and I'm sure they'd be happy to share progress further in case anyone followed up with those emails directly. Occasionally I have to manage expectations and that eagerness I mentioned earlier, which I think is a reflection of the Bubble team's overwhelmingly young ages, but it's hard to complain about a provider that is *too* eager to improve the product. Getting buy-in from an admittedly large organization doesn't happen overnight.
With a refreshing dose of humility. They'll be the first to tell you that the Bubble didn't latch on at Emory the first go-around, due mainly to technical capacity limitations. But the process to re-invent the product after that was great -- they directed all aspects, including organizing focus groups, ALWAYS heavily insisting for feedback, and rebranding in a way that never seemed internally demoralizing (to them). If there's ever been a case study for how to handle failure and come back better for it, they would be it. It sounds like hyperbole, but they have really impressed me with the way the product has grown since that failed lunch.
Our project was a full-service communications web/mobile app on a college campus. The university had abandoned its previous all-in-one platform a few years back, and recognized that a distinct hole was left behind -- administrators communicating with students had suddenly become much, much harder. The idea behind Emory Bubble was to recreate that magic in a hub that had "bubbles" for any number of organizations or concepts (e.g. individual courses, student-run organizations, feedback for renovations to a building, etc), and allowed for file-sharing, event postings, conversation, comments, likes, and structure for that organization or group. The amalgamation of all of this discourse is a public feed that is exclusive to the Emory community -- like Facebook, but better suited to our campuses' individual needs.
JPP needed a fresh new look for their logo and a modern, video-centric online portfolio and blog. Nightly Labs provided the logo design, web design, and web development services.
Product/abstract thinking was exemplary. Nightlylabs thought in terms of what the design was going to "say" to users, how it was going to communicate and interact, etc. And Nightlylabs effectively implemented those product ideas: the site is as clean and communicable as it was conceived to be.
Nothing comes to mind, the experience was that pleasant.
Part of what was so pleasant about the experience of working with Nightlylabs, was that weren't any such problems or issues. And if in fact there were, their internal quality processes were able to resolve them.

Nightly Labs set clear expectations, were extremely responsive, and delivered on every milestone laid out together. The final delivered product was very professional and fully functional and exceeded my expectations.
They could have presented less design options to choose from. Sometimes less is more. All of their designs were extremely professional and it was very difficult to just choose one.
Every issue was well documented and fully explained in a shared development management platform. Conversations relating to the issues were time sensitive and elaborate. I always felt Nightly Labs had a well thought out solution for moving forward.

Software is an ever-changing field, and relevancy demands constant learning. We all learn every day, and Today I Learned allows us to continuously document and reflect on that journey as it (more)happens. We use the Hashrocket Blog to share announcements, new products, and software development techniques, but Today I Learned fills a gap for us: many Hashrocket Blog posts are lengthy, deliberate explorations of our field, but sometimes it's best to just post what you've learned the moment it happens. Today I Learned is different because it restricts posts to 200 words. It was designed to be readable and updated daily. Each post is personal– sometimes a tip is bleeding-edge stuff, while other times it's something basic that's just new to that person– but every post is fundamentally functional and directly related to our work.
Great experience all around.

I can’t add a lot of color because I haven’t worked with other shops like Hashrocket. I only worked with the Chicago team, so I can speak to them, and I can say that they’re very passionate about doing development the right way, at the same time, they listen to what I need. Sometimes, those are conflicting goals. You can build something 110 percent bombproof, but the cost can be four or five times the cost of the “just get it done for right now” solution. I’d say overall they lean pretty far towards doing it the absolute correct way, but they’re sensitive to understanding that there’s often business concerns in these things as well.
The only constructive criticism I have is that I think there could have been a little bit better upfront communication from their upper level management on how Hashrocket’s system of developing works and what that means to a client.
There weren't many problems that came up during development. A few minor issues here and there, and they were great about handling those events. They either discovered the issue themselves, or when approached, they were very receptive to feedback. Further, the issues were addressed immediately, and there was an open line of communication and transparency throughout the process.
The majority of the work was development. We have a designer at Hashrocket that designed the site for us, with heavy guidance given from me. I came in kind of knowing broad strokes of what I wanted and where I wanted it to be. The pure aesthetics of it was our designer’s work at Hashrocket. I’d characterize the work as mostly lean product construction and very heavy development.
The client is TFS, an online solution for bankruptcy payment processing. This client was in need of a Rails Web development partner to analyze their website and finalize their site structure (more). This client has had a successful partnership with Hashrocket and continues to partner with them for feature updates and improvements. (less)
Our best feedback is from our users. The trustees that we send money to and our users love the site and love the ease of use and the less complexity of the process. Development-wise, it's been great. By the time we approached Hashrocket, we had previous developers that worked on part of the site. We had code that was somewhat there and it was close to being ready. Hashrocket was able to analyze our code, figure out what was missing, and bring it into what we actually wanted.
No areas could be improved. Nothing with Hashrocket.
The Hashrocket team features great people. They're always responsive. They don't sugar coat something if it needs to be said. They're up front and easy to work with.
TFS is an online payment processor for people in chapter 13 bankruptcy. It's a niche group of people that need to make payments to a court-appointed trustee once a month for three to five years. Our users have been previously locked out of different banking services. Their only other methods of getting these payments are by check or money order, which isn't private and is an inefficient way to process payments. My boss was a bankruptcy attorney. He knew a lot of the trustees and knew a lot of the problems that their clients had. He decided to make a better way for these people to process their payments.
The client is Grid Connect, a hardware development company located in Chicago. This client was in need of a partner that could develop a platform that would interact and communicate with a p (more)iece hardware their firm had developed. This client partnered with Hashrocket for their focus on Ruby on Rails development. (less)
Hashrocket's communication style makes them unique. Their process is something we've adopted internally since partnering with them. We would do daily video standup calls with them. I've worked with software development teams before, and we never had that close connection with another team. Even though they were in Jacksonville, and we were in Chicago, we had a very close tight-knit relationship with them because of those calls. It felt like they were part of our own team. I met with one of the engineers. We spoke at a conference after our product had launched together. Even though it was my second time meeting him, we had a ton of rapport because of those very regular video calls.
In any project, you come up with new requirements along the way. Something I've seen work well with other software development teams is any time a new requirement gets thrown into the mix, they'll pause, do an estimate, and give you a clear indication whether they can do it, what it's going to cost and how long it's going to take. I didn't feel that happened at Hashrocket. There weren't any surprises with billing, but it's nice to understand when you make a decision to add or change something how that's going to impact the cost.
By the end of the project, we were able to launch our product, which is now for sale on the Amazon home automation store. It's a product called Connect Sense. We've gotten very good customer feedback and results from the product and have been able to improve it from there.
We were developing a new product, which was a series of Wi-Fi connected centers. We knew a critical piece of that was going to be a software platform to monitor and interact with that hardware. Having a history as a hardware company, we don't have a lot of capabilities in doing Web-based software. I looked at the technologies out there and decided that Ruby on Rails is what we wanted to do and started looking at development shops.

The client is TFS, an online solution for bankruptcy payment processing. This client was in need of a Rails Web development partner to analyze their website and finalize their site structure (more). This client has had a successful partnership with Hashrocket and continues to partner with them for feature updates and improvements. (less)
What did the service provider do well?
Our best feedback is from our users. The trustees that we send money to and our users love the site and love the ease of use and the less complexity of the process. Development-wise, it's been great. By the time we approached Hashrocket, we had previous developers that worked on part of the site. We had code that was somewhat there and it was close to being ready. Hashrocket was able to analyze our code, figure out what was missing, and bring it into what we actually wanted.
Where could the service provider improve?
No areas could be improved. Nothing with Hashrocket.
How did they handle problems and issues that came up during development?
The Hashrocket team features great people. They're always responsive. They don't sugar coat something if it needs to be said. They're up front and easy to work with.
What did the service provider build or do for you? What was your project?
(less)
What did the service provider do well?
Hashrocket's communication style makes them unique. Their process is something we've adopted internally since partnering with them. We would do daily video standup calls with them. I've worked with software development teams before, and we never had that close connection with another team. Even though they were in Jacksonville, and we were in Chicago, we had a very close tight-knit relationship with them because of those calls. It felt like they were part of our own team. I met with one of the engineers. We spoke at a conference after our product had launched together. Even though it was my second time meeting him, we had a ton of rapport because of those very regular video calls.
Where could the service provider improve?
In any project, you come up with new requirements along the way. Something I've seen work well with other software development teams is any time a new requirement gets thrown into the mix, they'll pause, do an estimate, and give you a clear indication whether they can do it, what it's going to cost and how long it's going to take. I didn't feel that happened at Hashrocket. There weren't any surprises with billing, but it's nice to understand when you make a decision to add or change something how that's going to impact the cost.
How did they handle problems and issues that came up during development?
By the end of the project, we were able to launch our product, which is now for sale on the Amazon home automation store. It's a product called Connect Sense. We've gotten very good customer feedback and results from the product and have been able to improve it from there.
What did the service provider build or do for you? What was your project?
We were developing a new product, which was a series of Wi-Fi connected centers. We knew a critical piece of that was going to be a software platform to monitor and interact with that hardware. Having a history as a hardware company, we don't have a lot of capabilities in doing Web-based software. I looked at the technologies out there and decided that Ruby on Rails is what we wanted to do and started looking at development shops.

They didn't bullshit. From start to finish they were transparent and honest. I found that extremely valuable.
Sometimes they would get busy and not schedule a weekly update until later in the week, but that's about it.
My team said they would email right away, dig into the problem, and then call once they had a better handle on it.
They built a combination of Facebook and Match.com. It's literally what I've been looking for going on 2 years now!
A web application to make meaningful mentor relationships scalable for organizations. We take care of the training, connecting and success post match by using technology to reduce the pain p (more)oints between mentors and proteges. We built the solution from end to end starting with user interviews to discover the pain points and solve real problems. (less)
The platform is really easy to use. They put in place a great onboarding flow.
The admin functionality was limited. It just came down to resources. Given the time we had and budget we had something had to give and we all agreed that user adoption was more important than the pain of the program manager.
They immediately let me know via email and then, if it wasn't going to be a quick fix, called me to explain what was going on.
We needed a way to connect our founders and mentors as well as alumni. They built a custom version of the web application to fit our needs.
Uvize provides a very reliable platform and awesome support (pre sales and ongoing). The operations team is very receptive to feedback and new feature requests.
I would love to see the power of Uvize rolled into native apps for Android and iOS.
No. The Uvize team went above and beyond for Patriot Boot Camp.

I can't think of anything. They were great to work with.
Didn't really have any. A few small miscommunications did happen, but they called to straighten things out right away.
They built a way for us to connect users regardless of whether they're here in person or not. It's just what we needed and the best part is that they're always adding new features and improving it over time.
We planned, designed and built a custom student community web application for a higher education client to increase interaction and community between at risk student populations with the end (more) goal of increasing their retention rates. (less)
Built an easy to use platform.
Sometimes a new feature took longer than we would originally be told. Never by much - just a week or two - and they would always tell us several weeks out so it was never a suprise.
They would email us first and then call once they had a better handle on what it was and how long it would take to change or fix.
They built as an online community platform and it was great. It's literally the foundation of our online presence and really helps us engage more students.
Our original company homepage
A redesign of our company homepage to both freshen up the look and reflect an expansion of our target market.
The AngularJS ng.$http service has built-in CSRF protection. By default, it looks for a cookie named XSRF-TOKEN and, if found, writes its value into an X-XSRF-TOKEN header, which the server (more)compares with the CSRF token saved in the user's session. This project adds direct support for this scheme to your Rails application without requiring any changes to your AngularJS application. It also doesn't require the use of csrf_meta_tags to write a CSRF token into your page markup, so it works for pure JSON API applications. Note that there is nothing AngularJS specific here, and this will work with any other front-end that implements the same scheme. (less)
Ajax pagination that appends result, built on the Rails plugin will_paginate. This fork of jquery-bottomless-pagination makes a number of changes from the original: ajaxLoaderPath is opt (more)ional. If not specified, a text 'Loading...' message is shown The total page count is retrieved from the last numbered pagination link and is used to disable the 'More' link when the end of the set is reached (Previously the link was disabled when the ajax call returned no data, requiring an extra click to confirm the end of the set). When the end of the set is reached, the 'More' link turns into a 'Back to top' link. A span is added to the 'More' link with class 'icon'. Can be used to include an image, such as an arrow, in the pagination via CSS. Updated to work with will_paginate implementation that does not wrap the current page number in a span with class 'current'. Uses the 'next page' node instead. jquery-bottomless-pagination is a facebook-like jQuery plugin built on top of the Rails will_paginate plugin where results are returned and appended to the end of a list. " Ekspose arts is an online platform for creative people where, the art lover buys an original work of art at an extremely affordable price.
Mrinal was actively participating in the “thinking” process. As we had very limited technical background by our self at the moment we started the project almost 1 year ago, this was crucial for the success of the development process. The developers were also very flexible when we introduced changes during the process. I really appreciated the daily updates we’ve received from Mrinal. As a last strong point – and very important – Mrinal always respected the projected deadlines.
Knowing what we know today… If the company had offered a high quality frond-end designer and/or a UI specialist, I probably would have used that service / expertise. We tried to do some things by yourself which wasn’t always the most efficient way. I’ve learned as a customer that the customer isn’t always right. note: we also never asked for it.
Very well. I can’t recall a problem which wasn’t solved with the highest priority. The team was almost always available - even with the time zone difference.

I don't have very many critiques when it comes to what the team has done for us. The only possible improvement would be in communication when main contact is not available, having a backup contact person who is available on our time zone.
EXCELLENT!!! This is strongest point of team. They are responsive and dedicated when it comes to making sure the product is working. And they are great at working through bugs and issues end users are having on our side.
They have built out our entire website and online user platform which consists of different online programs and dashboards for many different clients.

Fall Alert is an app designed to alert a specific group of contacts in the event of a fall that may render you injured or otherwise unable to call for help yourself. After enabling Fall A (more)lert, the app will monitor your phone for free fall. When a fall is detected your phone will give you an alert notification and a timer will start to count down (from a time you specify). If you do not cancel the timer before it reaches zero, all the contacts listed will be notified that you are in danger. The first person listed will also receive an automated phone call alerting them. We have integrated with Twilio API for SMS and automated phone call. The text messages and emails will also include your GPS coordinates so your contacts will know where you are. When your phone is not on vibrate, an audible alarm will sound when a fall is detected to let you know that the timer is counting down. When your phone is on vibrate, the alarm will not sound but the app will still function and will vibrate to let you know a fall was detected. (less)

What did the service provider do well?
Mrinal was actively participating in the “thinking” process. As we had very limited technical background by our self at the moment we started the project almost 1 year ago, this was crucial for the success of the development process. The developers were also very flexible when we introduced changes during the process. I really appreciated the daily updates we’ve received from Mrinal. As a last strong point – and very important – Mrinal always respected the projected deadlines.
Where could the service provider improve?
Knowing what we know today… If the company had offered a high quality frond-end designer and/or a UI specialist, I probably would have used that service / expertise. We tried to do some things by yourself which wasn’t always the most efficient way. I’ve learned as a customer that the customer isn’t always right. note: we also never asked for it.
How did they handle problems and issues that came up during development?
Very well. I can’t recall a problem which wasn’t solved with the highest priority. The team was almost always available - even with the time zone difference.

What did the service provider do well?
The team is very proficient at backend development. They are exceptionally good at implementing our ideas and visions for our online products.
Where could the service provider improve?
I don't have very many critiques when it comes to what the team has done for us. The only possible improvement would be in communication when main contact is not available, having a backup contact person who is available on our time zone.
How did they handle problems and issues that came up during development?
EXCELLENT!!! This is strongest point of team. They are responsive and dedicated when it comes to making sure the product is working. And they are great at working through bugs and issues end users are having on our side.

"Mobisoft has some really talented iPhone developers and Android developers. I’m very happy." The client is a startup company based out of Silicon Valley that develops energy-conscious applications. The client's apps are based in the cloud and enable people to make energy-efficient choices. Being a startup, the client had limited internal resources, and wished to create its initial platform. Mobisoft Infotech was hired to develop the client's platform for iOS and Android. Each app consists of 10 to 15 individual screens, and many complex visual graphs and animated dials.
A couple of things. Typically, the design is done by us, and then Mobisoft implements it. However, there are certain designs that are very hard to implement or that could be implemented in a different, much easier way. Sometimes, the engineers know those alternatives. It would have been nice if those engineers had recommended some changes.
The client is very pleased with the mobile applications that Mobisoft Infotech developed. The client praises Mobisoft Infotech's talented developers and 100 percent commitment to the project. Mobisoft Infotech worked beyond regular working hours to ensure that the product was a success. The client would recommend Mobisoft Infotech to others.
The project was a cloud-driven app with maybe 10 to 15 different kind of screens that were iPad and Android based. It had a lot of visual complexes in the form of graphs and animated dials that actually formed the main aspect for showing some data. However, all the data was public from the cloud to APIs, and the static stuff was really the graphics.

No. I’m very happy with the interactions and with them. They helped not only with this project, but they also had good suggestions about building a product video, which we put together on a shoestring budget. We ended up with good quality based on some of their recommendations. They were good partners and went above and beyond where we initially started. We had a very clever user interface. They were on budget and on time. Their project management and communications skills are good. They use Basecamp as a tool. That’s a product that I looked at maybe six years ago and started using. We brought it back into play, and I’m using it for about 10 of my projects.
It was a partnership for the design of the application. They have an extremely clever marketing and user interface capability. Number one, they’re affordable, and number two, we went in with a crude idea of what the intuitive interface would be. They had strong and interesting recommendations for moving away from the "blood and guts" perspective that might typically come out of a medical device. Our intuitive interface doesn’t have opthosclerotic plaque or a heart shriveling to show what happens as people age, or they develop cardiovascular disease. But it's based on the concept of having a maple leaf change colors as it would happen during fall foliage.

What did the service provider do well?
"Mobisoft has some really talented iPhone developers and Android developers. I’m very happy." The client is a startup company based out of Silicon Valley that develops energy-conscious applications. The client's apps are based in the cloud and enable people to make energy-efficient choices. Being a startup, the client had limited internal resources, and wished to create its initial platform. Mobisoft Infotech was hired to develop the client's platform for iOS and Android. Each app consists of 10 to 15 individual screens, and many complex visual graphs and animated dials.
Where could the service provider improve?
A couple of things. Typically, the design is done by us, and then Mobisoft implements it. However, there are certain designs that are very hard to implement or that could be implemented in a different, much easier way. Sometimes, the engineers know those alternatives. It would have been nice if those engineers had recommended some changes.
How did they handle problems and issues that came up during development?
The client is very pleased with the mobile applications that Mobisoft Infotech developed. The client praises Mobisoft Infotech's talented developers and 100 percent commitment to the project. Mobisoft Infotech worked beyond regular working hours to ensure that the product was a success. The client would recommend Mobisoft Infotech to others.
What did the service provider build or do for you? What was your project?
The project was a cloud-driven app with maybe 10 to 15 different kind of screens that were iPad and Android based. It had a lot of visual complexes in the form of graphs and animated dials that actually formed the main aspect for showing some data. However, all the data was public from the cloud to APIs, and the static stuff was really the graphics.
